‘A Plant Can Go Extinct’
Hand embroidery on 100% cotton, completed in 2021
Told in a five-part narrative, this sequential embroidery piece presents the botanical lifespan of the endangered South Australian Whibley Wattle. Drawing from understandings of life and death from traditional representations of botanical illustrations, this artefact presents both as a classical botanical illustration and is also an activist statement on the impacts of global warming and environmentalism.
